Dr. Edward Kaplan is a professor of French and comparative literature as well as chair of the Program in Religious Studies at Brandeis University . Dr. Kaplan presented a paper on “Reverence and Responsibility: Abraham Joshua Heschel on Nature and the Self” at the 1998 Harvard University conference on Judaism and the Natural World. He recently published Holiness in Words: A.J. Heschel’s Poetics of Piety, which includes a study guide to Heschel’s writings. He is currently completing a two-volume biography of Abraham Heschel. Volume one, AJH, Prophetic Witness, was published in 1998 with Yale University Press.
