Daniel is a Ph.D. candidate at Brown University’s Center for Environmental Studies, investigating the demographic, policy and economic drivers of land use/cover change in Israel and the environmental/ecological implications of those changes. His research, fueled by concern for the rapid development of Israel's beautiful open spaces, examines the intersection between human social systems and ecological systems. He lived in Israel for 10 years completing his masters research at the Mitrani Department for Desert Ecology at Ben Gurion University, where he studied the impact of leaf litter on ecosystem flows in semi-arid environments. Daniel has taught environmental studies at the Rothberg International School at Hebrew University, the WUJS Institute in Arad, and at the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies. He is currently a member of the executive committee of the Green Zionist Alliance and frequently writes on contemporary environmental issues in Israel .
