Tu’ B’Shvat

Tu Bishevat is here,
The Jewish Arbor Day
Hail the trees' New Year,
Happy holiday!
This year, give the trees and the Earth that sustains them careful thought when celebrating Tu’B’Shvat
~Thinking Outside the Gift Box~
- Plant a tree in honor/memory of your loved ones! You can do this in Israel, America, or any country or backyard of your choice!
- Bring local (with Local Harvest and Tuv Ha’artetz) and organic new fruits to a Tu B’Shvat Seder! You can even sign another up to receive deliveries of fresh produce from those Community Supported Agriculture(CSA) farms.
- Protect our forests!
- Help fund community-based eco-projects such as climate change education, green technology, and reforestation through Global Giving Green!
- Support environmental research, protect endangered species and habitats through the Nature Conservancy and have an e-card sent while doing it!
- Give someone a pass to a botanical garden or national park!
- Buy carbon offsets in honor of our trees!
- Invest in the planet and invest in renewable energy. Get the 411 on socially and environmentally responsible investing! Then look into buying sustainable stocks or donating to environmental research companies, including Israeli efforts in alternative energy usage such as the Arava Power Company, the Israel Renewable Energy Cooperative, and other renewable energy businesses in Israel!
