Rabbi Marla J. Feldman is the Director of the Commission on Social Action of Reform Judaism, which reviews the public policy agenda of the Reform Movement, which is then implemented by the Religious Action Center in Washington, D.C. In addition, Feldman serves as the director of the Union’s Department of Social Action in New York. Feldman is both a Reform Rabbi and a lawyer. She received her J.D. from the University of Florida in 1993 and is a member of the Florida Bar. Rabbi Feldman was ordained at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion (HUC-JIR) in New York in 1985 and was a Jewish Studies major at the University of Pennsylvania where she received her B.A.in 1979.

Prior to joining the staff of the URJ, Rabbi Feldman worked in the Jewish Community Relations field in Detroit and Delaware. Prior to obtaining her law degree, Rabbi Feldman served congregations in Sarasota and Orlando, Florida.

Rabbi Feldman serves on the boards of numerous Jewish and interfaith organizations, including the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, Save Darfur Coalition and Rabbis for Human Rights-NA. As a JCRC professional and congregational rabbi she helped create the Michigan Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life, the Detroit Coalition for Literacy, the Attorney’s Council of Hadassah of Greater Detroit, the Delaware Coalition for Bosnia and the Hope and Help Center of Central Florida (the largest AIDS service organization in the area).
