Dr. Gannes lived for many years in Sede Boqer, Israel, and studied small songbirds migrating from Africa to Europe across the Sahara and Negev Deserts. He has taught numerous backcountry-based (backpacking & kayaking) courses for college-level students focusing on environmental policy, natural history and personal growth. Dr. Gannes is a broadly trained ecologist and physiologist with interests in conservation, environmental policy and sustainability.
