While doing research for the Jewish Centers newsletter, Saran learned an important truth: the action or non-action of any generation, past or present, has profound effects on the quality of life in the present and in the future. While working to create an awareness of the connection between Judaism and the environment, she helped start CoejlSC in Los Angeles, which led to the LA Interfaith Environmental Council.
