Mr. Andy Lipkis is founder and president of TreePeople, one of the largest environmental education organizations in the United States . A pioneer of the community forestry movement, he is co-author of The Simple Act of Planting a Tree: Healing Your Neighborhood, Your City, and Your World and recently wrote the afterward and “call to action” for the 20 th anniversary special edition of The Man Who Planted Trees by Jean Giono . Mr. Lipkis has worked with Jewish organizations throughout the Los Angeles basin to incorporate tree planting, environmental education and action into Tu B’Shvat celebrations. A leading environmental organizing trainer, Mr. Lipkis serves as an advisor both to COEJL and to COEJL of Southern California.
