Caring for the Cycle of Life:

WELCOMING THE NEWBORN:
BRIT MILAH/NAMING CEREMONY

 [HEBREW}

[CCL Thumbnail]
Taken from "Caring for the Cycle of Life"
When a child comes into the world, we pause to reflect on our hopes for the child, our sense of human purpose, and our dreams for and fears about the community and world into which we are bringing that child. During a bris or naming ceremony, we affirm our sense of a child's purpose as a Jew and a member of our community. It can also be a time to articulate your commitment to raising your child to be a guardian of the Earth, a pursuer of social and environmental justice for all the world's peoples and creatures. You can also articulate your expectations for the community into which you are bringing your newborn.
