VISIONS OF EDEN: A JEWISH PERSPECTIVE ON THE ENVIRONMENT
One Hour Documentary Re-released with New Introduction by Senator Joseph Lieberman
Produced by COEJL and the Jewish Theological Seminary.
Slated to Air Nationwide on NBC Beginning Wed., July 28, 1999
Journey with religious, academic and environmental leaders as they explore the natural world and share their thoughts, insights, and concerns on the environment and justice. Visions of Eden explores Biblical perspectives on humankind's place and purpose in the world and how Jewish tradition can help us to understand our individual and collective responsibility to care for the earth.
Visions of Eden features Senator Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut, an acknowledged activist on the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, as well as Rabbi Tsvi Blanchard, Evan Eisenberg, Rabbi Everett Gendler, Mark X. Jacobs, Bill McKibben, Rabbi Daniel Swartz, Dr. Mitch Thomashow, and Rabbi Gordon Tucker.
The one-hour documentary is an excellent introductory program on Judaism and the environment for both teenagers and adults. COEJL suggests that you record the broadcast and organize an event to screen Visions of Eden and host a discussion.
NBC affiliate stations have 6 months to broadcast Visions of Eden on the "Horizons of the Spirit" series.
COEJL encourages you to contact your local NBC station to request that they air Visions of Eden. If you would like the name of your local station's contact person, please e-mail info@coejl.org.
