Use our resources to learn and lead.
The Jewish community’s commitment to change on conservation and sustainability will emerge from exploration of the rich resources of Jewish tradition and contemporary life. COEJL develops and disseminates materials to enable Jewish organizations and communities to inspire, educate, and mobilize communities.
One 'evergreen' resource, worth regularly revisiting, is
"Wonder and Restraint: A Rabbinic Call to Environmental Action."
This 2005 letter, drafted and circulated by COEJL and signed by leaders of every major Jewish denomination, has been cited ever since, and appears in print in the book Righteous Indignation.
Nearly two decades later, it remains a strong statement of Jewish values in our ecologically impaired era, and it still reads with the same insight, poignancy, and timeliness as it did when first issued.
